Back home with DIAL-UP???

Hey peeps. It's been a while, huh? Well, while we were in Arkansas, Dad's laptop kind of crashed, so I couldn't work, and then when we came back we had no internet, and then I went to Florida. Now I'm back and we got dial-up. For the time being. Greeeeat. It's wicked slow, and you can barely do anything BECAUSE it's too slow. You get on at 1:05, wait 10 minutes to get to your e-mail site, you read one e-mail, Mom needs the phone, you have to get off. That's what happens. I was on my computer, with diap-up, this morning, for an entire HOUR, and I got absolutely no progress.

Anyway, about Florida... I will put some pictures on here as soon as I get them developed and put the picture disk on my computer. It was really fun. We went to the beach almost every day, and we got to stay up really late! We were right down the hill from a Haagen Dazs, which surprisingly took a lot of energy to get to because we're not used to hills. We have zero hills in Louisiana. Man... I saw the BEST movie ever: Redeye. It was the best movie I have seen in a while. It's about this woman who's trying to get home on a redeye flight, and she meets this strange guy on the plane who tells her if she doesn't call her hotel and move this guy to another room, he would kill her dad, who his people have been spying on for the last few days. It's really good and there's a lot of action in the end. But the guy's like a cockroach: he WON'T die, no matter what she does. Haha. I also saw The Corpse Bride, and I don't recommend seeing that. The highlight of that film was the preview of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which looks like it's gonna be AWESOME! November 18th, people. This is the first time I'm not seeing it with you guys in New Hampshire! It's weird, because that was like a tradition to see it together in theaters. Whatever. I'll see it 15 times anyway... We also saw Just Like Heaven, which was a pretty good movie, but it was kinda sad and sorta sappy. After that week, I had a notebook filled up with 13 movies that I wanted to see, due to all the previews.

Right now we're fine. Mom just wrote a letter to send in the the Granite State News (actually, I wrote a letter for Mom to send to the Granite State News) about donations to our schools. Our cupboard is, like, empty, because the stinking stores don't have any food. But, I mean, it's fine. And I just rented a TON of books from the library. I have discovered this awesome new series of books, so I'm reading pretty much ALL of those. I also got a biography of J.K. Rowling, whihc will be cool to read. We start school in a week, so hopefully things will get back to normal soon. The only bad thing about that is my FAVORITE teacher this year is leaving. She taught three of my classes. I swear, there is a curse on Language Arts teachers, man. Last year we had three different teachers for one class, and it was hectic. I have all these projects that were due days ago, and I can't do them because I left all my books in my locker. It was a normal Friday, August 26th, the day before my birthday, we weren't worrying about possible category 5 hurricanes hurtling our way, so I figured I'd be too busy that weekend to get any work done. Therefore, I can't do anything. Hopefully the teachers won't hold us accountable for anything liek that.

Well, Mom wants to use the phone, so I have to get off. Please e-mail us!

Bored in Arkansas

We're still here in Little Rock, and we're still bored, but now that I have BIG DADDY, I am very happy!!! Thank you, Julie, Sean, Molly, and Brennan! Today we're going to a free BBQ in fron tof the hotel. There have been a lot of free meals lately, and there's a room in the lobby that has all this free food and other things. Jacin just called, saying that he's very bored--I don't blame him. He doesn't have anything; no TV, no PlayStation, no computer, no DVD player, no AIR! Wow.
The fish just left Reeo's. I bet Reeo and Papa are very lonely right about now; they have been used to having people there for two months! We had a few months full of people in April, too, so we know how that is. We had Grandma Mary for a month, then the Goodales, then Reeo and Julie.
Well, I gotta go finish watching Big Daddy! I LOVE that movie!!!

House is fine

We got a call from Dad. Our house is fine, except for 30 shingles and the fence, but luckily, those things can be fixed. Play-Doh is alive and healthy. Dad and Jacin slept in their own beds last night. The only thing that's stopping us from going back is the fact that there's no electricity, so it's incredibly hot. Dad said I would hate it. So we will probably be here for another week, he says.
Kid are supposed to be going to school wherever they are. Mom says I don't have to because that's probably for kids who don't really do well and aren't in gifted. They also say that teachers should report to the nearest school to help out. Those schools are supposed to accept all teachers and students, no matter what. I think that's pathetic, because all the schools are going to be too crowded!
We are going to Waffle House for dinner tonight, and I will update this sometime tomorrow!

Bananas

I named this post "bananas" because there is a banana sitting right next to me. I'm watching Dawson's Creek, which I have discovered as a very good show. Papa just called, but Mom's not here, so I'll have her call him back later. We're going out to Waffle House for dinner, so that'll be fun. I guess I will be posting on here a LOT, considering there's nothing much else to do. Uh... I think I'm all written out! We haven't really done anything today. Maybe I'll go down and see Grandma and Grandpa after Dawson's Creek is over because Mom is shopping at the grocery store. So I'll be back later when I actually have something to write about!

"Ronald Weasley! How DARE you steal that car! I am ABSOLUTELY disgusted! Your father is now facing an inquiry at work, and it's entirely your fault! If you put another TOE out of line, we'll bring you STRAIGHT HOME!"
Haha, that was my favorite quote. Jacin and I say it all the time. It's Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter!

No power in St. Tammany

Okay, so far we have not heard from Dad. He told us he might not be able to get through, so not to worry. We went to dinner last night at the 50's diner at the Holiday Inn. It was pretty good! The lady gave us a free dessert because we didn't want to pay for it, so that was really nice. The people next to us, a man and this kid about 16 years old, they lived in Metairie and their house is underwater. Red Cross is NOT helping them at all, and that made us mad. The Red Cross is staying at the Hilton instead of doing their job. That's a load of bologna. So anyway, I turned around to look at the TV, and there they were, the people we were sitting right next to were being interviewed on television. That was pretty cool.

As of right now, we can't eat out anymore. The bank can't give out money. This whole thing is putting a damper on millions of people's lives; I hate it. The only thing we're afraid of is the unknown. We don't know the condition of our house, we don't know if Play-Doh is alive, and we don't know where Dad and Jacin are or what they're doing. It kills me that they know everything, they are there, and we don't know anything because they can't tell us.

So today we're going shopping for food. We think we might have to stay here for another week or so because we have NO electricity at all in St. Tammany Parish. So I think I will be watching a LOT of Harry Potter. And Mom won't let me rent Big Daddy, which is also killing me. Blockbuster HAS it, AND they also have the Friends Season 7 DVD (which, by the way, Friendly Video does not have), and we can't get it. I was staring right at Big Daddy, knowing I couldn't get it. I know this is basically the least of our problems, but it would really help me to keep my mind off things. We did buy Cheaper By the Dozen though, so that'll keep me occupied for a while. I don't have a VCR either. I would NOT be complaining at ALL if we had a VCR or at LEAST Disney channel, because then I could watch my favorite shows. We watched Everybody Loves Raymond last night, so that was cool, but I would KILL to have the Suite Life!

Another problem I am facing is that I don't really matter. Grandma says we have to do things as a FAMILY. I am part of the family too! But I dont count; I'm "just a kid." NOTHING I say counts, nothing I think matters, and I really think I should have a say in some things. I AM responsible enough to think up good ideas and plans, but they want nothing of it. They think that no matter what, their way goes, and I couldn't possibly help the situation. And there's nothing I can do about it.

Other than those things, we're fine, I'm fine, so good-bye.
